Privacy Policy
Effective from September 26, 2026
This document explains what personal data we process when creating a memorial page, why we do it, and what you can do with your data.
A memorial page holds a person, and along with them photographs, dates of life and the contacts of living people. We collect the details of the deceased, the materials the family supplies, and the contacts of relatives. We publish contacts only with the family's agreement.
Who processes the data
Data operator: Artur Zherka, taxpayer number 291961669, 112 Suvorova Street, Brest. We accept requests at privacy@zhorben.com.
- Legal basis: Law of the Republic of Belarus of 7 May 2021 No. 99-Z on the Protection of Personal Data.
- Consent: The family supplies the materials, we show them what will appear on the page, and a relative approves the finished page. From that point we treat consent to publish as given.
- Withdrawing consent: Any living person may withdraw consent at any time by writing to privacy@zhorben.com. We withdraw without asking for reasons, within thirty days.
- Explaining rights: Before approval we tell the family what data we process and what rights a person has whose data ends up on the page.
What data we receive
- Details of the deceased: Surname, first name, patronymic, dates of life, epitaph and biography.
- Family materials: Photographs, videos and recollections written by relatives.
- Contacts of relatives: A name, phone number or email address, if the family agreed to publish them. Without that agreement we do not publish them.
- Order contact details: The name of the relative who approved the page and their contact, used to agree the content. They are not shown on the page itself.
- People in photographs: Photographs and videos may show living people besides the deceased. The family confirms the right to publish such images, not us: we cannot tell who is pictured or whether they agreed.
- Technical data: The page code it was opened with, and technical details of the request that the server may record in a log. We do not use them for advertising and do not link them to a person.
Why we do this
The sole purpose of processing is to create a memorial page and show it to whoever opens it.
Data that did not end up on the page is not used for advertising, sold, or passed to third parties. This is the order contact, the materials of unpublished orders, and page drafts.
How we process the data
We compress photographs and videos and keep only the lightened version, exactly as it appears on the page.
- Originals: The source files stay with the family. We do not keep them permanently and delete them a month after the page is delivered.
- Size and quality: We reduce files to a size that opens well on a phone. Higher quality has no effect on how the page looks.
- Protection in transit: The page and its files are served over an encrypted connection.
- Staff access: Only the operator has access to the materials.
Who can see the page
- Open page: Anyone who knows the code can see it. We do not offer password-protected pages. The family chooses the open option knowingly.
- Us: The operator sees all the materials. Once the family approves the page its content is closed and we do not rewrite it. We correct factual errors such as a misspelled name or a wrong date, and we remove a living person from the page if they ask.
How long we keep it
- A finished page: For as long as the service runs. No term is set, nothing is deleted automatically, and there is no subscription fee.
- Original files: One month after the page is delivered, then deleted.
- An unfinished order: One year. If the family stops replying, the order is put on hold and the materials are deleted.
- A page taken down: One year, so the decision can be reconsidered. After a year it is deleted.
Your rights
You may at any time ask to be removed from a memorial page if you recognise yourself in a photograph, in a name or in a contact. Write to privacy@zhorben.com and give the surname and first name of the person whose page you saw, or send the link to it. We will not ask what relation you are to them: you are removing yourself, not someone else's page. We remove you within thirty days, and if you are the only person in a photograph we take the whole photograph down.
You may also ask what data of yours we process and why, ask for it to be corrected, withdraw consent, and then we stop processing it, or ask for the data to be deleted, and then we erase it. If you believe we broke the law, you may lodge a complaint with the National Personal Data Protection Center of the Republic of Belarus.
How to write to us
Describe what exactly needs to be removed or changed. Give the surname and first name of the person whose page you saw, or send the link to it.
We answer such letters personally and no later than within thirty days. The form of the reply depends on how you sent the message.
